Measurement & Verification
Aphelium fees are linked to the measured reduction in energy consumption. This document describes how that reduction is established.
01Baseline
The baseline is established from a prior period of operation, before any change is made. It records energy consumption at the utility meters and the conditions under which it occurred.
02Adjustment
A saving is meaningful only against comparable conditions. The baseline is adjusted for weather and for IT load, so that lower outdoor temperatures or a lower IT load are not counted as savings.
Calculation
Saving = Adjusted baseline consumption − Measured consumption03Verification
Calculations and meter data are available to the customer in the monthly report and are reviewed by both parties. An independent third party may verify the result if the contract provides for it.
04Contract model
Fees are an agreed share of the verified saving. The baseline, the adjustment method and the share are set out in the contract before the start of operation.
05International practice
The method follows the principles of the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).
